I am thinking about getting a longer zoom lens either the nikon 55-200mm or the 70 -300mm, and just wanted your opinions on which one would be best. Am looking to take shots of wildlife mainly. Or would a lens from sigma in the same zoom range be has good. Any thoughts please.

The extra reach of the 70-300 will probably come in handy for wildlife. Not used the Sigma equivalent so can't comment.

Thanks for the reply, and of course if I get the 70-300mm I can use the filters that I have already got as the thread is the same as my 18-70mm

The 70-300 is much bulkier and heavier than the 55-200. However, if you need the extra "reach" it is worth paying the extra money
