Induction Hobs
      #680685 - 19/07/2008 14:17

We have (will have) a Bosch induction hob in our new home, when it is ready. I understand how they work, by induction magnets, but does anyone know if Stainless Steel pans work on them?

It says in the book of words that pans should be metal. A test is to see if a magnet will stick to the base, but our 'SS' pots will not attract a magnet. They must have too much Chrome in the formulation.

Does anyone have one of these devices? If so, have you found any problems with your pans? Looks like we may have to replace them possibly??

According to Wikipedia most Stainless steel pans won't work. See here.

We use a couple of portable induction hobs and had to replace our pans. Jen found a high quality set on eBay for next to nothing.

Interesting, they are quick and energy efficient, but looks like we will have to buy new pans. Always fancied some cast iron in the kitchen! Can't beat a solid bit of kit that weighs a ton and a half. That's why I bought a K10D!

PS, my Pentax SV tells me the hat is keeping it nice and warm in chilly 'Narfolk'

This is getting a little too saucy, I'm out.

Got a bit off the subject again!

Hello
I believe you will need to get some new pots. I am sure someone would take your old pots off your hands..... for a price of course!

Welcome to Norfolk!
Tim
