I am expecting a parcel from LCE containing one of Olly's expensive FP-1 flash-grips. Today, I receive a parcel from DHL, with a DHL label on it, with my name and address. There is also another label on the parcel, printed in a very large typeface (20pt) with the address of someone near Oxford. I mention this to the Couriour, but he says, "Well, it must be yours, you are the person on the DHL label, aren't you?"
I open up the parcel, to find that it contains potting compost, and it's from a garden centre I have never heard of! Looking at the documentation, it's patently obvious that the DHL label, has been attached to the wrong parcel. From what I have managed to work out so far, LCE and the Garden Centre's couriers, have decided to pass the job onto DHL, and somehow at this point, my DHL label has been affixed to someone else's parcel. (Considering how big the other label is, one would have thought the person attaching the label, would have noticed the two addresses didn't tally!)
I have phoned LCE, the Garden Centre and also the rightful owner of the parcel, and received courteous and efficient responses from all of these. My dealings with DHL in this matter, have been quite as good, finding who to answer my questions, being my main bone of contention with them, since as far as they are concerned, someone else must have caused this mix up.
At first I hoped that this was just 2 parcels miss-directed but I gather a chain of customers are involved, probably caused by one label getting stuck inside the label-printing machine and about 12 parcels were miss-labelled before someone realised the labels were out of sync!

It turns out LCE used a Parcel delivery firm who then passed the job onto DHL (That's quite a common practice) but the labelling machine they used for printing the DHL labels messed things up, so the parcels were labelled out of sequence. My bracket hasn't surfaced yet, which is a bit of a shame as I was hoping to use it this weekend.

Bet you wouldn't have complained if it was a D3 (the proper owner might though - especially if he ended up with a rubber dildo and a gimp mask)

Unless of course he/she really wanted the rubber dildo and gimp mask; and only ordered the D3 as a cover story........

I wasn't aware LCE sold rubber Dildos and Gimp masks .... I know LCE has an extensive range of second-hand equipment, but I'm left wondering, what they would have PX'd these goods for .... A D3?!!

Nothing exciting I'm afraid, a GT Avalanche 3.0D to try and get back into cycling after a long lay off. If all goes well I'd eventually like to replace the Mercian I sold.

I wasn't aware that ANYWHERE sold 2nd hand rubber Dildos and Gimp masks. I would be even more shocked to find that there was much of a market for them!!! Maybe BDSM-Bay but certainly NOT e-bay!

Actually the technical name for this is a 'Cockup'. Anyone who is offended by this terminology may be reassured that it is made respectable by no lesser organisation than the Ordnance Survey. See NY272333
