Hi All, New to the forum. I have a Fuji E900 and a Olympus Mju 780. I am slowly finding my way in photography. I am awaiting the arrival of a Olympus D80 so I can expand my photo taking knowledge and options. I have Paintshop Pro 9 on my PC at the moment but am thinking of moving to Photoshop Elements. What is the general thought on this software? It seems that most people use Photoshop so I am wondering if this is the way to go.
Cheers All.

welcome to the forum. an olympus D80? are u sure that correct? or you getting it confused with a Nikon D80?
Its different strokes for different folks, but photoshop is the industry standard. Elements is a cut down version of the full photoshop program. in my opinion its great value for money and can do more than what the average photographer would need.
hope this helps

Yes sorry about that I did mean Nikon D80! Lets hope my skills as a photographer develop more than my posting skills! Seems to me it would be a better option to go for the package that everybody uses as its easier to then get help.

Elements used to be bundled with hardware such as scanners and printers, so if you're still buying gear, you might be lucky.

As observed Photoshop is the industry standard so as to speak. However, Paintshop Pro is a perfectly good program and if it's the one you are familiar with there's no desparate urgency to change unless you're a masochist for learning new programs.

Fuji E900 - great little compact! I'm really happy with mine.
I think there's no need to change your software unless you find there's something you want to do which can't (easily) be done with your existing setup. If you do need to change, there are several photo editing programs which are available for free, eg. The GIMP
