I've bee usig CS3 to convert PEFs to TIFFs but keep finding geometric artefacts in images.
So... whats the best converter for PEFs?
I did use Pentax Browser but downloaded the upgrade at which point it began crashing so often it became unusable. I tried uninstalling it and loading the disk I latergot with the K10d but, despite removing the old copy of the prog, when I try to instal the disk Im told it's already installed.

I like Capture One - I got a free copy when I bought a Sandisk Extreme III memory card.

If I shoot in raw then I use Adobe DNG format - it's a lot easier to work with than PEFs. My older version of PS opens them without any trouble and I can just save them as TIFFs or JPEGS to work on them. Makes the workflow faster as well as I only need to use one programme from start to finish.

I've had no problems with PEFs in either betas or normal Lightroom.
I can't afford the full thing, so I save my 'best' PEFs until there is a new version and do the 30 day trial. Btw, if anyone has v1.whatever and wants to 'invite' me to get full use of the 2.0 beta till August, drop me a PM.

I have always used DNG and PS CS2 and now CS3 to convert them to tifs. With CS3, the raw converter has so many tools, it can nearly all be done in Bridge, apart from sharpening of course. What an amazing tool CS3 is now.

Try this: http://www.rawtherapee.com/ Just make sure you download the 2.4 version. It really is quite excellent. And free.
