Just wondering if anybody else has had a similar problem?
Problem: Windows Vista running machine won't connect to internet via ethernet or wireless. The wireless router works fine as I've connected an XP running machine via ethernet and my work laptop wirelessly with no problems. The drivers on the Vista machine are all up to date and it says the are fine. At a loss with what to do I phoned a local repairer and he asked who my ISP was and then said this happens a lot recently with Virgin/NTL. I know he's not fleecing me as he said he run a diagnostic and IP work around should fix the problem (which he said he could do for free providing there are no hardware problems).
Just wondered if anybody else had such an experience with Virgin/NTL? Sees rather odd to me?

I have Vista Home Premium, and have had no problems. When first connecting my new computer I had a small problem, but contacted the Virgin help desk and they were very helpful. It turned out that I should disconnect the broadband cable, start my computer, then plug the cable back in. The PC would then find all the drivers and the connection worked first time.

In fairness to Virgin/NTL it was just after the latest Vista update download, so that may have reset something. Anyway, everything is OK now. Yes, I've always found the Virgin helpdesk pleasant too.

I have Virgin Broadband and have just (yesterday) installed a Netgear router to feed the desktop PC (XP), wife's iMac (Tiger) and the new laptop running Vista and to my amazement it all worked OK first time. A great boon after spending the last 7 months unplugging and powering down the modem to switch between PC and Mac. Have to say I was impressed with the help from Virgin Broadband when we first acquired the iMac as they talked me through changing connections on the phone as I did it for real. This is one of the reasons I'm still with for broadband them although, unfortunately I do have a BT line.
