Hello all,
The black foam light seals on my K1000 have started to degrade, does anyone have a recomendation where these can be replaced, and how much it will cost.
PS A new camera isnt an option, as this one as given to me on my 14th birthday
Regards

You can easily do it yourself and the best source of materials I know of is <interslice> on eBay.

I don't think me attacking my camera with a sharp knife is a good idea. It would probably end up with me leaving a significant amount of blood in my camera.

I get seals replaced by APM camera repairs in Newcastle. However I don't know where you live, so this may not be close enough. Cost is, I think in the region of £12. The owner usually attends Boston Spa camera fair, as he has a large amount of sale equipment. The next event being this Sunday (22nd).

I've just called APM. I'm only 8 miles from Newcastle. He will change the foam seals around the mirror, while I wait, for a fiver.
Result!
Thanks for all your help

I was under the impression that you needed all the seals replacing, as those sealing the back and the main body tend to deteriorate with age. It is a job that I have always shied away from, preferring to pay somebody who knows what they are doing.

I've not checked the ones inside, Ill ask APM to check all of the seals and replace as appropriate. If its only a filver for the mirror ones, I doubt it will be a fortune to get them all done

I followed Roger's link to Interslice and here I am 7 days later with enough foam for 10 cameras and all for the princely sum of about £7.50! What is more, apart from the booklet enclosed with the foam you get a link from the vender to a site with excellent illustrated instructions on how to reseal a host of different cameras. Two MEs done already now for the Spotties! Easy job.
