Faint rattle from E510 - problem?
      #665562 - 11/06/2008 11:13

Hi all,

I've noticed a stange noise from my newish E510 when handling it with the kit lenses attached. Anything other than the gentlest of movements results in a faint rattle / humming kind of noise coming from the body.

Does anyone else get this? I'm hoping it's normal - perhaps the image stabilisation mechanism?

Thanks for any help.

Rob

Hi Rob,

does it make the noise if the IS is switched off?

Hi Richard,

I'll have to check when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it does it even when the camera itself is turned off. The camera works fine, otherwise.

Rob

I've double checked this - even when not switched on and with no lens attached, the camera makes a faint rattling / humming sound if moved, as if someting very delicate is vibrating.

Does anyone else's E510 do this?

Rob

Ther is a small ball in the camera that moves when you take photos in portrait mode, it operates a switch that tells the camera which way it is up, so that auto rotate can be used when displaying images. It is probably that you can hear. My E-500 does the same.
