I am interested in a battery grip for the Pentax K20D. There is currently a choice between the
Ansmann P-BG2 Battery Grip
and
Pentax D-BG2 Battery Grip
The Ansmann Grip appears to have ALL the same features as the Pentax Grip. Would there be any disadvantages with the Ansmann?
One immediate advantage with the Ansmann is that it is £14 cheaper than the Pentax, and also includes a spare battery!

It may screw your warrantee on the camera, if it goes wrong. Other than that I have no idea. Personally, for £14 I wouldn't risk it. It may not last as long as the original, of course. Another possible downside.

Hello David,
Thanks for your reply, and the point about the warranty. I will check with Pentax on that one. It is an external attachment though. Not quite the same as modifying the camera.
The supplier of the Ansmann battery grip is SRS and I e-mailed them before the week-end. I certainly won't proceed without hearing from them and Pentax.

I had the same choice to make with my K10 and after talking to the sales person. We both agreed the build quality of the pentax and feel would be better. Also the battery lasts for ever so go for the Pentax you know it makes sense
