Hi All
I am after a bit of advice about some primes for portrait use.
I am looking for a pretty fast lens and around the 50mm I'm open to suggestions a little either side of this.
The lens is to go onto a D200 and I am currently doing the AP diploma in photography and do not claim in anyway to be anywhere near semi-pro or anything I just like to take nice photos that I am happy to hang on my wall at home.
I am happy to consider second hand and do not have unlimited funds.
Any comments would be great.
Cheers
Andy

Since you are looking for something of c50mm, the 50mm f1.8 afd would seem to be the most likely choice. This lens is a decent performer at a reasonable price point. If you want something a touch faster there is the 50mm f1.4 afd.

How about the 60mm macro? Not as fast (or as cheap?) as the 50's but should still be a good lens for portraits and if the OP doesn't already have a macro lens it opens up a load of learning opportunities there too

For the price of the 50 1.8, I'd say go for it!
I love this lens and it get much more use then I thought it would, Its spectaculary sharp when used properly and for £50-£80 you cant go wrong!
