Hi Folks
Just been doing some comparisons on my GX10 between various lenses using my tripod to minimise shake, which meant attaching & detaching the tripod adaptor to the camera several times - and now the tripod bush has come loose inside the camera!!
The two screws holding the bracket of which it appears to be a part, are still tight - so it looks like the bush has come away from the bracket and is floating around!! mad:!!
This is a pain because I use a Zing Actionstrap which is held be a screw which fits to the bush.
Will be on to Samsung service PDQ - but check your bushes as it could happen to you as well

Hi, Reading your post about the loose bush. Perhaps it may have come loose do to stresses imposed upon it when using the hand grip.
I have often thought of purchasing such a grip - now I am not so sure!!

I've got a GX-10 and have mounted it on a tripod often enough to have confidence in the mount. Perhaps you've just been unlucky?

I remember one time screwing an old mini tripod into the bottom of my ME super - I only realised the screw was too long when it pushed the bottom out of the tripod socket!! Didn't do any harm to the camera I think, despite the little bit of metal knocking around inside the base plate! That lovely camera has now clicked its last I'm sorry to say - mirror jammed up and can't wind on. Oh well, it has two baby brothers to keep me occupied!
Thanks for the warning btw, I'll be gentle with my K10D!

It is, as you say, very important with any camera not to allow a tripod screw to extend too far into the camera's tripod bush. It can cause massive damage.
What I don't understand is why changing lenses needed the tripod adapter to be attached and removed at all?

Is the Samsung and the K10D exactly the same construction? Perhaps this is another reason why the Pentax is more expensive, if not.
Did you have a particularly heavy lens on the camera? if so there would be a considerable bending moment applied to the bush, which might have overstressed it. Many heavy lenses have a tripod mount of their own for this reason.

Because at least one of the lenses (a 200mm F2.8 Sigma that I have just obtained) has its own tripod bush, and also, with my cheapish tripod, the adaptor is somewhat difficult to attach to the camera.

The Zing strap is very useful, especially with a heavy SLR (and the GX10 is no lightweight when it has w/a or Telephoto lens attached), as it allows you to keep a firm grip on the camera with one hand. I have used one for years on my MZ5N with no trouble at all (and certainly not this type of problem!).
The point about the screw length is however well made by someone else - I think the Gx10/K10D may be more susceptible to damage of this type than some of the earlier designs.

Well, I took the camera into Samsung at Chertsey (I work near there) on the afternoon of Friday 30th, and it arrived back here by Royal Mail Special Delivery this morning - with no quibble as to whether or not the repair was outside the warrantee!
Not bad, but could possibly have been a bit quicker [when I phoned up this time last week, they said they had a lot of cameras to repair - wonder what that means? ]
