Couple of questions about Gimp...
      #655977 - 16/05/2008 18:54

Does anyone use the Gimp on Vista..? If so does it work, or am I going to be waiting for a new version of it. Reason being my laptop got stolen recently and it looks like it'll be replaced with one running Vista, I'll probably get the latest elements at some point, but want to use the Gimp as a stop gap. Also, is there a front end for it that makes it look a little more like photoshop? I'm sure I remember reading about something...

Thanks

Gimpshop, the Photoshop-alike front end for Gimp, is a bit out of date. (version 2.2 vs the far-superior 2.4)

I don't know about Vista, as I'm a Linux type, but the Flickr Gimp-Users group has a discussion on the topic which looks positive.

You may need UFRaw for Raw file import, too.

According to the website :

GIMP should run on any NT-based version of Windows (NT4, 2000, XP or Vista)

I'm running it on Vista with no noticeable problems.

Can't help with the front end tho, I don't find the interface it comes with too bad, although I should add that it isn't the main programme that I use.
