Hi all,
Lookeing at these on the web.
Have any of you got the 14mm f2.8 and can recommend it.
It seems a really good lens from the reviews??
Also, would any of you recommend the 10-17mm fisheye. Is the quality ok?
I have been using my 21mm + 40mm limited lenses. They are really good, especially the 40mm.
Many thanks
Graham

Hi Graham
I'm not familiar with the 14mm lens so can't comment. However I tried the 10/17 Fisheye but the distortion (fisheye effect) at the 10mm end was too much for me - its something you either love or hate.
I finished up with a Sigma 10/20 mm which is extremely well corrected for linear distortion bearing in mind the ultra short focal length and the overall image quality from this lens just blows your mind. Maybe the Pentax 12/24 is better - it certainly costs more - but I'm very happy with the Sigma.
Hope this helps

Ditto, I love mine and I believe FEN loves his 10-20 (so he told me last time we met in Oxford). very good value but if you want fisheye images, it's not for you.
See my post 'Wisley' in the appraisal gallery or my Flickr site for examples.

Many of the images here were shot with the 14mm, and the photographer is on the record as loving it to bits.
I really want one too, but it's far too expensive considering the use it'd get.

Hi Graham,
A friend/customer (of mine) picked up the DA 14/2.8 because of the "closer focussing" along with the "extra stop" over the DA 12-24 which I purchased (and love). As well, I have sold a number of DA 10-17 FE's (to friends/customers as well as customers ) and the nice thing about the DA 10-17 is that with the "de-fishing software" available you are not "just" stuck with a 'semi fish eye' shot anymore but it is slower than the DA 14 as well as being less expensive.
So, if possible, try them on your camera and see which one seems to 'grab ya' or, do what I do and ask the people who do have the lens(es): "what they don't like about the lens?"
Cheers,
Jack
