HI All
How does the copywriting of an image work and how does it remain safe on the internet
Cheers

In the UK, you automatically have copyright on any photo of your own - you don't actually have to do anything.
How does it remain safe on the internet? It doesn't.

When i take a picture how is that picturemarked as mi property. I understand that if you upload to the net it can be stolen, but how do you prove that you are the orignal creator.
There is no 100% fact that your image will be stolen. I have several hundred photos online, all at low resolution and small sizes.
If you don;t want to risk it... then don't put images online.
The only way you can protect your image is to write your name and details all over the front of it.
But then... no one would want to look at them either!

Keep the images under 600 pixels, they will not print bigger than a postage stamp, but will look ok here. Don't be tempted to post links to larger images unless you can find some way of locking them so they cannot be downloaded.
"This image will self destuct after 10 seconds"......does not really exist outside of the movies I'm afraid.

There isn't a way to stop people downloading them. As soon as you go to the image, it's automatically downloaded into the CACHE folder.
I've seen people put a transparent GIF file in front of photos thinking that will stop people - Nope still downloads to CACHE.
Seen people putting the images in a Flash file - That files goes in the CACHE as well, then you just run one of the widely available "Flash Resource Editors" on it and get the photo out.

PrtScr (print screen) for the win! I have seen some sites where a code disables right clicking on the image - and also others where the image greys out when you hover over the image, but Fen is right - once its on the net its up for grabs for anyone who passes by. Even if you publish it some people can scan in the image - so the only real way is to never ever release your photo. Or do as has been suggested before, only upload smaller copies of the image and keep the original full sized version to your self. Thus if anyone attempts to either steal your photo or make money out of it you can prove that it is your property only

Although that would seem to be the basis of DRM, however what can be done, usually can be undone.
The only way to protect hi-res images on-line is to put them behind a password protected system... it won't necessaryly prevent theft, but it can provide an audit trail. However you do then have the added hassle of managing passwords, as there is no point in letting usrs do it.
