Hi all from a newbie
I have a question which hopefully you can help me out with. I am trying to photograph shoes against a white background; I have a small photo booth with two lamps either side shining through it.
The kit I’m using is a Canon 350D with a Canon 18-55mm lens. At the moment I shoot the photo against the white background and edit out said background using Photoshop (magic wand/erase etc) to achieve a very clean pro look without the creases and blemishes. I’ve heard that this camera has a feature to basically do that at the source, and focus only on the item, is this correct, if so what settings do I use?
If it isn’t a setting do you have any tips for totally washing out the background and just focusing on the often colourful footwear to avoid the whole process of editing out the background later on?
This would really save me a lot of work so I’d be extremely grateful for any hints and tips!
Thanks

The camera can't do it automatically.
if the lighting is reasonably even and the exposure correct then the white background should appear white. Why not post a link to an un-edited picture so we can see what the issues may be.
If you have a problem with creases, why not use something that doesn't crease, such as mounting board?

it's not what you've got, its who you do it to

One possibility is not to fold the backing sheet where it changes direction from horizontal to vertical. Instead use a shallow curve to reduce shadows. If you use a very smooth paper this will also reduce any texture. Playing around with the aperture to reduce depth of field might help a bit, but probably not a lot.

Thanks for the info chaps, you were spot on we were trying to correct a problem that shouldn't have existed!
We have altered the lighting and background (piece of curved paper works a treat) and now the pictures come out sharp as a tack and don't need editing
