Eos 350 d and a Sigma 70-300mm DL
      #634445 - 28/03/2008 18:06

Hello,
I am new at this so please be patient. I bought my camera after a long discussion with a pro photographer. My partner had an old 35mm SLR Eos which she had several lenses with it all of which fit the 350D. Unfortunately the Sigma lense keeps returning and "error 99" message - which according to the manual means I should take the battery out and reset. However once this is done the error re-occurs once the lense is asked to focus. Is this such an old lense that its auto focus mechanism is not compatible with my present Eos. If this lense is no longer compatible does any one have any recommendations for a replacement.

Hi There,

You might have to send the lens to Sigma to be 'chipped' so it'll work with the camera.

I'm sure someone posted a list of lenses that needed this doing to them some time ago. You might be able to find the information out by doing a google for "canon sigma rechip"
