Hi all I am new here,
I have just purchased an fz 18 which I m very happy with having taken a few pictures in the last few days. Today I tried to transfer the pics to my pc and no matter what I try i can't get the camera to transfer the pics. I took the memory card out of the camera and used a card reader and it worked fine . I am using the supplied software, but to no avail, it just keeps coming up with " the parameter is incorrect" has anyone had this problem or does anyone have an ideas as to what I am doing wrong ?
Thanks for your help in advance

For those that don't know...
What make is the fz18?
What software are you using?

Personally I've never even installed the software that came with my FX30, I just my card reader.
I really don't know why people bother downloading from the camera to be honest... We get endless queries on here about downloading issues and virtually all of them involve trying to download from the camera, it just isn't worth the hassle. Our stock answer these days is "Buy a card reader, it's far less hassle"...
My guess is that you are getting the message due to some communication error between camera and PC. Do the AV and USB outputs use the same connector? Have you accidentally set the camera to output AV when you actually want file transfer?

TBH you're probably better off using your card reader to transfer images to your PC, as it will be slightly faster than transferring from your camera. However, the USB link should work too.
I'm assuming that your camera is the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ18? If so, the supplied drivers should work OK. I installed mine without any problems, running under XP. What Operating System are you running on your PC? Are you using the supplied USB cable? Have you tried the USB cable in a different USB port on your PC?
If all else fails, you could try the following:-
- disconnect your camera - Go to control panel, add/remove programs, remove all Panasonic software - Reboot your PC - With your camera still disconnected, re-install the supplied software (that came with your camera) - Connect your camera
I hope this helps. Good luck with it.
Oh - and be sure to install SilkyPics SE that comes with the camera. If you shoot in RAW, you'll need SilkyPix to process/convert the RAW image files.
