Return of an old friend
      #568165 - 13/11/2007 10:42

I have just got my RTS (mk1) back from long term loan.

For Brian T's interest it was bought S/H in Hull 1983 or 1984 just before I moved to London at the age of 18, so that's about 60% life time ownership. In contrast to the Contax, the photograph was taken on my G9 with its 'over crowded' 12Mp sensor. (200ASA f5.6 AV - 1.5 exp.compensation )
Is / will the RTS be used, a new PX28 and some FP4+ are planned for the weekend what ever the weather

Looks nice.

Contax/Yashica was one of my many choices when I first ventured into photography.
Then I thought about the Olympus OM2. Ended up with Minoltas eventually.

Yes I have to admit it has had an easy life, within a couple of years it was demoted to a second / spare body. The 137ma that replaced it had TTL flash and built in winder so was just more convenient to use. The 137 started having problems with frame spacing about a year ago, at the time the RTS was on loan to my dad, as a replacement for his FXD. I had jumped ship to Canon, keeping most of my Zeiss lenses, my dad has now 'gone digital' so has no need for the RTS. I will use it mostly with my wide aperture primes, keeping the EOS for action and flash photography.

Thank you again Gordon, I was going to say that you would have seen this camera back in 1984. We were contemporaries at Market Weighton Photo-Cine Club, but by '84 you would have been in the RAF for a few years. I recon I had just been given a Praktica Super TL at around the time you left.
