Canon Powershot A610 RAW- converted to mono
Have you hacked the A610 to give you RAW, as it doesn't come as standard?
yes not fully explored yet but have some shots from the camera which hopefully will show the benefits of RAW...

I do apologise for casting aspersions upon your probably unblemished character, but at first glance I thought your shot was your workstation

Ah well, spill the beans then as I was thinking of getting the A650, so it might work on that also

I found the "hack" on the PP forum (I know embarrassing isn't it ) Left it alone then googled and found the site. Basically involves downloading some firmware to find out which firmware is in the camera, then some more firmware with the actual RAW stuff on. You have to save the firmware to your memory card(s) as you have to upgrade every time you use it unless you lock it. I prefer to choose when to use the RAW imaging. I had to download a RAW converter and the images become dngs which I then will process in Elements 4. Fairly straightforward... As I say will do some work on it when I get the opportunity

just tried another one- it might be me being picky but at the moment I can only make out very subtle changes- but I will persist and no doubt will report back with more information. thinking about it the subtle changes are probably significant doh! One day I'll learn

All this talk of hacking compacts for RAW capture has prompted me to Google RAW capture for my Casio EX-P600 and sure enough there is a hack for that too!
I'll definitely be looking into it - thanks David
