What do you think of the Digilux 3?
      #555478 - 17/10/2007 10:26

Dear all

As some of you may know, we are planning a free supplement covering the current crop of DSLRs to accompany our 17th November issue. We want to include some readers opinions would like to hear your thoughts and aspirations about the Leica Digilux 3. Why did you buy the camera and what do you like about it. Why did you buy it instead of the Panasonic L1?

We need around 100 words. Here's an example to get you thinking:

The Nikon D40

I know a six-million-pixel resolution is so ‘yesterday’ but there is something I really like about the Nikon D40. A big part of the attraction is that the camera body is really small, so when it’s fitted with a fixed-focal lens the whole package is light and compact. The other thing though is the image quality. It’s quite noisy beyond ISO 400, but the noise is crisp and sharp – like a nice film grain. Post-capture processing is great too - you can print direct with colour effects, or just get started on a creative process that you’ll complete on the computer.

Email your review asap to:

angela_nicholson@ipcmedia.com

and please include your real name as well as forum name (if you have one)

Thanks in anticipation.

Angela

Or their DMRs. I won't part with mine, not even for a M8!!

On a more serious note, I'm not sure how many takers you'll have for the digilux 3. Leica were trying to offload a few recently with offers of discounted lenses like the 180 summicron!! With the R10 announcing next year at Photokina, many R users are waiting with bated breath.

They've just extended the 30% off offer to existing Leica users by 3 months. I think the D3 is proving hard to shift and it does seem a bit of a clunker. If 4/3 has any future, Olympus seem to have got it right.

Yup, I'm another one waiting for a real Leica DSLR (please please, full frame and manual focus).
