M/Screw adaptors
      #554460 - 15/10/2007 15:17

I've just acquired a M6 TTL. It may however be a little while before I can afford a M lens. - Could anyone give me a quick appraisal of the M/Screw adaptors I've seen on E-Bay - Do they allow effective use of screw lenses (in particular an Elmar 5cm/3.5), or am I better off putting the £20 or so to a saving fund for a decent 35 or 50mm?!?

They work just fine. Whether the lens itself does is a different matter. If you get the correct adaptor, it will set the right frame for your lens, but even the "wrong" one will still allow the lens to function perfectly and give full rangefinder coupling.

There is a great selection of good screw lenses out there - some like the Jupiter 8 at bargain prices (very practical f2 50mm - about £10).
