snip I think we stopped the rot for the moment anyway. Obviously there are still five more months of the 2007 FirstView project to run snip
October, November, December.. even adding Dilbert's Floopuary I only get 4 more months..... what calendar is everyone else using?

Sorry - my increasingly absent mind. Of course it is only three month to go.

But the whole point is that you're just supposed to photograph whatever you are doing on the day - not that you should find something interesting especially for FirstView. If you're doing something special you can photograph that, by all means, but if it's just a routine day, you photograph the routine. It's a pictorial diary of the forum members' activities. And if they're mundane, well, that's life!
But how many pictures of my work-station can you really stand.......
Though I grant it may be of minor documentary interest to observe the ebb and flow of the tidal wave of bumf and rubbish across it......
The point I was trying to make, badly I suspect, is that after a while you will have photographed pretty much all the routine stuff. Indeed the act of photographing your normal routine on the first of every month will itself start to feel routine; we know this often acts against enthusiasm and tends to lead to the "blow it, I can't be bothered" syndrome. This month I actually looked forward to First View if only for the fact that I whatever I photographed would be less humdrum than usual... I suspect I'm not alone...
...Hey, no desk pics *this* month!
But seriously (sort of, obviously...): I look forward to FirstView (and FirstBench!), because it makes me take the camera with me (which is an event that is becoming rarer and rarer these days), and it's an opportunity to record a little slice of life... I do hope that we'll carry on with FirstView in 2008.

It remains to be seen - but if we don't, there will certainly be something in its place which will likewise require you to get out there and take pictures. :-)

I agree. I love FirstView for both the reasons you descibe. I've started taking a camera out agin as well and this has sparked my interest in photography again. The 'slife of life' aspect is fascinating.

Is this the first First~View with no untidy desk images?
Looks like it (though I do have theory, that it is more to do with the fact that the 1st this month was on a Saturday that the fact people have got bored of taking shots of their desks.)

I'd prefer photos of people's desks than people's favourite park benches (puts tin hat on and dives for cover....)
