Ilford process and print
      #529700 - 22/08/2007 19:25

Has anybody else experienced problems with Ilford's mail order processing recently?

I've used this service in the past and had generally good results. However, I've just recieved the prints back from 2 rolls of XP2 and they are appalling: covered in processing marks and all printed out of focus. All the envelope contains is a box containing the prints and negatives, no contact details or advice as to your rights as a consumer. This is annoying as if I'd recieved such poor service over the counter I'd have demanded a rework or a full refund.

The Ilford web site is no help at all.

I would strongly recommend not using this service. Like many of us, I was sad to see Ilford struggling a couple of years ago and pleased to see them bounce back. But I won't pay good money for such bad service, irrespective of who they are.

In my experience, they have been nothing but excellent. A little slower than expected, but the quality was amazing.

Just call the main Ilford number, and get them to put you through to whoever deals with processing.

Me too. I use them when I don't have time to do my own processing and have nothing but praise for them. You must have caught them on a bad day.

I bought some of the Ilford film + mailer packs reduced in Boots last autumn as they were offloading them in their reduced shelf for about £6 each - bought quite a few of those!

Had some processed recently and they came out fine, no problems that I could see. They did take a long time though - stated on the mailer as about a week but took over four weeks to come back.

if anyone is interested Boots are doing film 3 for 2 on single films...HP5 is 4.99 a roll and XP2 is 4.69 a roll so for anyone wanting to try out mono it's not too expensive...obviously you can buy them cheaper elsewhere but for convenience I thought it was quite a good offer
