You're welcome

Thought I'd post it here to make it easier to find rather than the other thread where you asked about it.

Thanks, there are some useful improvements to the way it works, but looks like the Levels control in RAW processing has been replaced with a Lightness control. What does anyone think of that, or are they the same thing?

Is this a direct replacment for camediamaster? [Re: Iloca]

Thanks for the link.

I have and occasionally use Camediamaster as it has a 'auto distortion' setting that will 'un-distort' [it removes barrel & pincushion distortion] automatically when you select a setting.

Anyway, I keep CM on the comp just for this setting. It also has easy ways to print images in muliples, etc.

Does master have this 'distortion' setting?

I'll also be using it to have access to the raw convertor. If I recall correctly, using it for E-1 .orfs gives you all the CM [colour emphasis] settings and a few extra options over the convertor in Oly Viewer. It's a case of the convertor recognising individual bodies files and offering settings pertaining to that model similar to those found in camera, i.e the same convertor just gives the normal Sat, Cont and Sharp setting with C5050 files.. yet put a E-1 orf threw it and you get the CM settings.

Anyone know anything? Thanks

Yes it does appear to have Auto Lens Distortion fix and can edit the .orf using the same presets as in camera. Unfortunately I can't comment on how it compares to the other Olympus program as I don't have it installed.

Hi can you tell me where to find that? I can't see a distortion fix.
Thanks,

Sure Mike,

when you have the 'Browse' window open, 5 icons across from the left on the top panel you should find 'Edit'. Click on that and if the Palette isn't open click 'Edit Palette', 'Distortion Correction' is the last but one on the list.

Does anyone have a view on the merits or otherwise of enlarging images in Master 2 rather than interpolating later in Photoshop? I have been struggling with a heavily cropped image and going back to the RAW and enlarging there seemed to help, but I'm not sure there was a lot of difference.

Two questions come to mind:

I wonder when the pricing will be anounced?

If I have CS3, do I need this as well?

The free Olympus Master 2 (download or comes with the camera) is a very clunky piece of kit when it comes to processing IMO, although I do use it for downloading the images from my E510 and sorting into files. CS3 on the other hand deals with E510 ORF's very well, and quickly.

Does anyone here know if Lightroom can open Olympus 510E RAW files?

Hi Mike,

yes it can, I was given a CD of Raw (orf) files taken on an E-510 and the opened fine.

If you want to be 100% sure you could download the Trial version.

I bought the E410 a few weeks ago and after a trip away i found i had 400 images to sort. Olympus software was slow and after reading about Silkypix on another site i thought i would give it a try. I am half way through a 14 day trial period and i am pleased with the speed and results of the software. Other Oly users may like to give it a try. I am tempted to buy the full version.

Having used Aperture and Lightroom, I have to day going back to a raw converter that doesn't also rate and catalogue images, plus having to store multiple 'conversions' rather than just the metatdata is a real bore. I tried Silkypix, Bibble, Olympus Master etc last month to check I wasn't missing anything in quality.
The answer was no I wasn't AND I was gaining 'hours' in usability. I've stuck with Aperture, but Lightroom is nice for Windows users.
PS O Master is the slowest and clunkiest of the lot.......

Can't remember where I downloaded it from originally, but can anybody see any reason why I shouldn't be able to download it again? I'd like to install it on the new computer because it's one of the things that was lost on the old hard drive.
