Best online photo developers
      #454751 - 20/03/2007 10:32

Hi, I am new to owning a digital SLR. I would like to send my first lot of photos off to an online site for developing. A friend uses photobox.co.uk, but I wondered whether this was really the best? Can any of you reccomend alternative sites. Many thanks.

I'm very happy with Photobox. I've had great prints up to 20x30" (they seem to have their own built in upsizing interpolation system), and the 6x4.5" "proof" prints work out at only 7p each when I pay for 600 up front. Their online upload system works well for me with Firefox & Linux, unlike others I tried.

Another vote for photobox. In my limited experience they have been very good

Must agree, just got some sepia panaramas done through them and the printing and service is first rate and cheap too.

I have used both Photobox and Truprint, both are identical for large colour prints but I find Truprint better for Black and White as I do a lot of Infra-red.

Photobucket and virginmediaphotos.co.uk are both same company and i have to say up untill last week i was very happy with them.

I also would take out 600 credits and up untill last week they had no problem taking my money and developing my prints.

Unfortunatly they have now closed my account as they see a topless woman (my partner) on a beach as unfit to have the photos developed.
Up untill last week they had no objections to such images as i use my partner as a model and have always used them to have my images developed.

Double standards for a company who will make money from porn, sex and violence in thier media tv channels.

If anyone can give me a website of a photo developer who is not prudish and has double standards id be very appreciative.

Thanks.

I love photobox and have used them ever since they started up. I find their customer service excellent on the few times I have had to speak to them.
I think that's bad about the topless wife thing - not you taking or printing the picture
Surely they should see you have a good customer record and one public nude shot should be allowed, if not many others. They are your pictures and as long as your gallery isn't public then why shouldn't you have your own private pictures printed. Have you spoken to them in person?
