Nick,
You mentioned in the other thread your RX needed servicing. How do you know? Not being funny but just wondered on what you base it.
Reason for asking is I've just bought an RXII. Seems fine to me but you've got me wondering.
Cheers
Peter

Ah, the traditional Contax problem - mirror not going up fully.

Hmm. Interesting. In 25+ years of using Contax, I've not seen, or even heard, of the problem. Hopefully I never will see it.
Where do you get yours serviced?

Have to say I'm surprised you've not heard of it, even if you've not seen it - it's certainly the only thing I have heard of that might be described as a frequent issue with Contaxes (other than body coverings on early models, of course). It's a spring, I think - not a huge issue.
Where to get it serviced? Ah, that's a good question. I'm not sure - I've got to trawl through my Contax mailing list archives to find a recommendation. I'll share it when I do!

Newton Ellis & Co in Liverpool are prepared to work on Contax & Yashica 35mm SLR's. (They have some parts apparently). I've not used them but intend to when funds allow. They have a website:

They've been around since 1948 and seem prepared to handle all sorts of photographic equipment, brands and faults.

I was brought up in Liverpool and lived there until about 20 years ago. Newton Ellis have indeed being going for years, although I never had cause to use them myself.
