contax g1 or g2?

G2 - I don't have experience of either of these, but have heard the metering in the G1 can be somewhat wayward. The G2 is much improved in this regard.

I would suggest you go for the G2 for a number of reasons. I was going to enumerate them all here but remembered this web page just in time Much better done than anything I could put together.
