Help buying a compact travel camera - that will shoot fast :)

I need help please

I want to buy a decent travel compact camera

My main needs are

fast shoot (I have a baby & right now my old camera takes so long to click she has moved by the time I get the shot)
compact will be easy to slip in coat pocket or bag ]
decent price
HD movie shoot

(I have been checking out the Nikon Coolpix p7700, Fuji Finepix F770 or F500 and the Canon Powershot SX260)

Not sure how much to spend & whether the extra £100 difference on some models is worth the money or the older version will give me just as good shots.

I want to be able to take photos indoors & out

Hi and welcome.

All compact cameras need to focus and adjust for light. So there will be a slight delay when pressing the shutter button. However, there is a way to vastly improve the delay by pre-focussing on the subject by pressing the shutter half way whilst pointing the camera in the direction of the subject, then following the subject (still holding the shutter button half way) and pressing the shutter button all the way down at the appropriate moment. Anticipation is the key factor here :)

As for camera choice. If still images are a priority, then the Canon PowerShot SX260 HS http://www.photographyblog.com/revie...ew/conclusion/

As for indoor work with moving subjects then plenty of light is always the answer!

And don't forget. Post processing is an important part of photography and should be used to sharpen and enhance pictures taken with your camera. If you don't have an imaging editor, then use the one in my signature below. This is a wonderful reply. The Canon Powershot it is & I now know the trick with the shutter button !! Thank you.

I will explore your links & yes I do use some Image enhancing software. I do have photoshop but actually I have a cheap & cheerful download called snapseed that does plenty I just need the time to actually explore what they do. Maybe that's an infront of a movie night. Thanks very very much :) xx
