Old lenses on new Nikon via adapter

High!

I am trying to use some old Minolta Rokkor lenses on my new Nikon d3200 with the aid of an adapter.

I just wonder if I can enter manually, as an input to the camera, the aperture I have chosen so that it calculates the shutter speed. I think that it is not possible, but, in case that somebody knows a way, please inform me about it.

My father used to take marvelous pictures with them, but I find it extremely tiring with all these calculations I have to make for a single descent shot... :)

Your dad's old lenses don't have CPU connections, sadly the only way they will work is with the camera set to manual

Thank you, Graham, I just hoped that there is a way... by hacking the software of the camera maybe...

anyway, it is about great lenses though, bearing some glorious past too...
