is there much difference in the 1.4 and the 1.8 I can't imagine you can see much difference apart from the cost! I do all my http://www.specialimages.co.uk/blog/ with a wide aperture 2.8 and sometimes when space is time my a shorter wider lens would help- might have to be the 1.8 as its far cheaper and I am guessing lighter.
The f1.4 is a top of the range fx format lens , and should deliver superior results than the f1.8
