Changing Canon EOS SLR
Hi I currently have a Canon 350d and hoping to upgrade to a 1100D for Christmas. I have 150mm sigma lens as well as a 300mm and wide angle lens. Can I use those lens on a Canon 1100D. Cheers all heres my flickrhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/68011710@N05/
Hi and welcome.
The 350D and 1100D have the same lens mount and crop factor so all should be well.
The 1100D is classed as entry level. If money is tight. How about a refurbished 550D from Canon http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EOS-...item43b26b6b7b Comes with one year warranty!
Hi and welcome you have a 350d and extra lenses you woul get so much more out of the 550d or 600d. If its a case of waiting that's what i would do and get a really good grade. Good luck
You’ve got very little to worry about. All the cameras you’ve mentioned in your question feature Canon’s EF-S lens mount so compatibility isn’t an issue. What you will want to consider though is the 1.6x multiplication factor that has to be applied to all the lenses you attach. Your Sigma 300mm for example is equivalent to 480mm on a Canon DSLR that features an APS-C sized sensor.
As for which camera to choose, this rests on your budget. Canon’s recent EOS 650D release has lowered the price of the 550D and 600D quite significantly. Though the EOS 550D is no longer in production it can be picked up in good secondhand condition from £300 and if your budget can stretch to £493 we’d settle for a brand new EOS 600D.
Hope this is helpful. M
