hi mark
if that is the make of your cam a Canon Eos 1000D
then you have to think about the 1.6 crop factor of the sensor
as people and i am one as well that don't own full frame sensor body's
the lens that are say 10-20mm on our model's then become a 16-35mm lens we have to what ever is showed on the lens multiply it by 1.6 to get actual length on our crop sensor body's.
so if you brought your cam with the kit lens it say 18 - 55mm which on a cropped sensor its length is 28 - 88mm
here are a few wide lens
Sigma EX Wide-angle zoom lens - 10 mm - 20 mm - F/4.0-5.6 - Canon EF £330
Tamron SP B001 Wide-angle zoom lens - 10 mm - 24 mm - F/3.5-4.5 - £320
Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX 11 mm - 16 mm -f/2.8 £456
Canon EF-S Wide-angle zoom lens - 10 mm - 22 mm - F/3.5-4.5 £569
ive seen review for the Tokina one if you want to shoot in low light this as the fastest aperture of f2.8
hope this helps you out abit
all the best
russ :)

Hi I'm thinking of buying a Canon Eos 1000D, is this a good camera please?
:)
The 1000D is an excellent camera to get you started in the world of DSLR photography. Just bare in mind that it is showing its age now as it was released on the market in 2008, with the 1100D replacing it early summertime this year.
