Dont worry with a great camera comes a great responsibility, thats from spiderman I think :D
Just get out there and take pictures, lots of them.

That was my first DSLR too. And if I have to be honest... It was great decision. There is a lot of knowladge you have to gain but after that it will be superb. Best part of all is that you will be dicovering new things every time you will be on a "photo walk". It is over 1,5 year and I am still fascinated about that camera.
good choice best way to learn as said above take lots of ptcs the exit data will tell you your settings so you will learn by your successes and failures. Happy shooting
Know what you mean Jud about learning. Can I recomend the excellent book by SIMON STAFFORD called The Magic Lantern Guide to the D90. I bought one of these for my D300 and it's just brilliant the way it's written. This man is simply amazing and is a Nikon specialist. I bought my book from Grays of Westminster, tel;020 7828 4925.
