I am soon going to buy a Sony A550 with up to 7fps. I do not know what memory to buy for it. Do I go for this: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...d/Product.html which is class 6 or would it be worth going for: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...d/Product.html which is class 10.
The class 6 card should be fine, as the camera won't be able to transfer the images to the card rapidly enough to truly test the write speed. It's more likely the buffer will fill up prior to that, but by then you should have plenty of images in the bag.
Is it that all cameras that won't be able to truly test the write speed or the Sony A550 that won't be able to? What about class 4 15MB/s? For example: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...archtype=genre
The specs say that the a550 can shoot up to 14 Raw frames before the buffer fills. At 7fps max, this means 14 frames in 2 seconds, and Raw files can easily be 10-15MB or more. Class 10 SD is actually only rated as transferring 10MB/second, so for the extra £4 you may be better off grabbing the faster card.
