£350 Point me in the right direction please...

So I have £350 to spend on a new camera, theres a few factors I need to take under consideration
1)budget dslr or digital
2)I travel alot so the variety of pictures will change, some landscapes, everyday situations, memorable moments etc
3) I'd like to take the hobby to the next step

Any help will be greatly appreciated

The third point, taking photography to the next step, means you're looking a DSLR or http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equ...emcameras.html. But the fact you travel a lot means it needs to be small.
If you don't have any special interests that require specialised lenses (eg bird watching, motor sports etc, which need big tele lenses) then a micro system camera could have been ideal were it not for the fact that they're above your budget.

Which takes you back to an entry level DSLR like the Nikon D3000, Canon EOS 1000D, Sony Alpha A230 or Olympus E450.
They're all good in different ways and have different strengths and weaknesses, but the most important factor is how they feel in your hand, so I suggest taking a look at these four and at least narrowing it down to two.
