No. For exactly the same reason. Switching from a sniper's rifle to an assault rifle helps you empty the ammo box faster, but doesn't make you a better shot.
I also went digital this year and feel that it has helped me improve my photography. It's not so much that I shoot more photos in one session, but rather that it has encouraged me to experiment far more with the types of images I capture.
I also joined a photo club in the summer and entering the competitions has definitely helped improve my results.
