Although that would seem to be the basis of DRM, however what can be done, usually can be undone.
The only way to protect hi-res images on-line is to put them behind a password protected system... it won't necessaryly prevent theft, but it can provide an audit trail. However you do then have the added hassle of managing passwords, as there is no point in letting usrs do it.
