Hi Angela, is there a chance to get one's hands on the files shown in the L10 test? In my copy, I can't see any serious fringing in the image labelled as such. Though the faces and yellow shirts seem to suffer from completely blown red channels which bleed into the surrounding dark areas. Might just be poor printing of my paper copy though, in which case I am at a complete loss with respect to the shortcomings of the kit.

Also it would be interesting to see whether the cyan skyes aren't just a blown blue channel, which upsets the colour balance.

In general, wouldn't it be an idea to make the images of the articles available here? A printed paper copy doesn't seem to be the medium of choice these days, when one can get genuine files from various websites.

Hi

We hope to be able to put large pictures up on the website in the future, but at the moment we can't.

The fringing Barney identified in his images from the L10 unfortunately hasn't survived the reproduction process in the magazine, but it is visible on screen.

Angela

Hi Joachim,

Angela is correct - unfortunately, the fringing that I describe in the text has not printed clearly in the magazine. Sorry about this. It happens sometimes, but if in doubt, you can trust our observations as they are written in the tests. As Angela has said, posting hi-res images from our tests is something we hope to do in the future, so watch this space...

Re: the image you're referring to, the fringing is visible as a bright magenta line around the left hand side of the young man's face (and every bright edge). For whatever reason it has not reproduced very well. Apologies.

Thanks

Barney
