Pentax Super Takumar and SMC Takumar difference

Hi there, Yet another Pentax (M42) lens question from me. I understand from various threads that the Super-Takumar lenses are more prone to flare than the SMC Takumars, and, with digital, flare is more of an issue than on film.
From a previous Post, 'Tacitus' listed some 'star performers' available in both SMC & non-SMC.
The Super Takumars seem easier to find second hand. Could anyone tell me if a Super-Takumar would do the job just as well on my K10D as an SMC if I used a pro-spec UV or skylight filter?
I will buy a couple more Super-Takumars if anyone reassures me that these are fine...
Thanks Steve
