Durst M670 Colour Help!!
      #545058 - 24/09/2007 15:24

Hi,

I need to know where I can get a 645 insert from to fit my college's Durst M670 Colour enlarger so the negatives actually fit in correctly.

Cheers!!

I had a quick look on ebay. I wouldn't purport to be an expert about this sort of thing, but I found this:

ebay
Hope that helps.

Durst have made things quite complicated with the naming of their products. I had a M670 colour and kitted it out for 35mm, 6x4.5, 6x6 and 6x7. Is the college enlarger currently used for medium format?

You'll need to know whether the enlarger has a mixing box for 35mm or medium format, they are called Vegabox 35 and Vegabox 67 respectively. This unit sits directly above the negative carrier and can be easily removed from the enlarger by loosening the two screws and sliding the unit out. The size of the white, opaque plastic will tell you which model it is even if there is no label.

Your own UNINEG negative carrier would be useful, then you could just swap it rather than having to prise the masks out.

The masks are named:

SIVOPAR 35 mask - 35mm
SIVOPAR 45 mask - 6x4.5
SIVOPAR 66 mask - 6x6
SIXMA 67 mask - 6x7
SIVOGLA AN (anti-newton glass)

You can either use one mask in conjuction with the anti-newton glass or use two masks. One in the upper and one in the lower holder of the negative carrier.

The SIRIOPLA 39 lens board is reversable, recessed for 50mm and not for 80mm lenses.

Good luck trying to track and of that lot down.

At the moment it's one big negative carrier and we have 35mm inserts but no 645 - which I need for my Mamiya stuff.

Does that help? I don't think it's entire masks....

You'll need to check the model of the mixing box (above the slot where the negative carrier goes), either Vegabox 35 or 67. It has to be the latter to use 6x4.5 negs.

The UNINEG negative carrier accepts different masks (or inserts) for different size films. There are two pegs inside the carrier than the film butts up against, these swivel to allow either 35mm or 120 film. It can be quite difficult swapping the masks over, that's why I suggested your own carrier as well.
