The sand dunes on Shell Island at Llanbedr hear Harlech.
I had a lovely time walking along the beach picking up various shells, despite it's being a bit breezy. And just to prove to Chris that I did see some blue shy. Lisa.

And very nice it looks too, Lisa!
I remember Shell Island, I used to canoe in the surf there many years ago!

This is the ruin of St Andrews Church in Roudham, just east of Thetford. You can see it through the trees as you go past on the train to Norwich from Ely. I've always wanted to visit and take some pics.
The opportunity came a couple of weeks ago as my TA unit held a training weekend at a camp only 15 minutes drive from the church so I stopped there on my way home on the sunday.
According to the information board, it was built in the 900's with a thatch roof. Sometime in the 1700's, the thatch was being repaired when a plug of burning tobaco fell unnoticed from the thatcher's pipe. It smoldered for a while before setting the roof on fire and burning everything but the walls.
The church was then abandoned for more than 200 years untill Norfolk County Council funded some renovation work to cut back Ivy that had completely engulfed everything but the top of the tower.

That looks good with the light shinning on it Chris. I find castles and such very hard to photo - they just look like piles of stone. Lisa.

Well I'm talking to myself again! Come on chaps, you must have taken a photo of some sort during September. No?? Perhaps I'll rename the post next month - 'Any image of anything that you happened to take in October during the past 10 years' Good night all. Lisa.

Hi Lisa, One of the draw backs of living nearly 1000ft up a hillside in Wales is that I am a long way from a telephone exchange. My telephone line cannot support Broadband, my internet connection only runs at 28kbs - that`s half the speed of an old fashioned dial up connection. So I just can`t email or receive images easily. (My house didn`t receive elctricity or running water until 1980!) Maybe BT will give me a new line as an early Xmas present - I can then share my mod 10 images with you - still thinking of a subject - 3 months in which to complete. Enjoy N. Wales.... Chris

Hi Azzi, yes I can appreciate that's it's difficult. I only got Broadband in Jan this year and before that I was using the PCs in the local library up upload pics off a pendrive. But, there are more folks than you, me & Chris doing this course and at the moment very little contribution if any from the majority of them. I sometimes feel like there's only a few of us making any effort, although again I appreciate that other folks have different priorities. <<Whinge mode now off.>> Lisa.

ok, ok, duly admonished (is that a word?!), I have attempted to find and upload a fav pic for september. This is no mean feat as I found that I didn't actually take many photos in september (ok, so that's a good lesson learnt!), those that I did take would fall more into the snapshot category than the aspiring diploma graduate category , and also I can't work out how to get the photo to a decent size without being too big to post. So, if the following pic appears at all, then it's going to probably be a bit small (probably a good thing in reality )
I've called this one 'We're going on a bear hunt .....' as that's my little one's new favourite book, about a dad and his kids going off into the woods (and other places) to look for a bear (I guess the clue was in the title )
carole
PS well, having previewed the message, the pic did appear - yay! but it is small, so sorry, but at least I've shown willing (but not enough to keep me up any later to work out how to resize it, sorry lisa!!! ) If anyone is interested in seeing it bigger, here's a link to my flickr page, I think it does look quite a bit better bigger ....we're going on a bear hunt - but bigger!

Ah! that's so cute Carole.
If you're using Photoshop Carole, look in the File Save bit and there may be something like 'Save for web'. When that opens there is a tab on the right called Image Size where you can alter the pixel dimensions and just above that a box for quality where you can alter the bytes (the image quality is shown bottom left under the photo).
Azzi, Carole and everyone, I'm sorry that I was moaning on Thurs, but it's so nice and interesting to get other people's views and ideas. You must get fed up with me rambling on. So, I'll stop. Lisa.

Ok Lisa, spent a day at The English School of Falconry handling and flying the birds, I liked this guy.

Wow David, what fantastic eyes that owl has. What sort is it? It's looks liked you enjoyed your day out and took some excellent photos. I'd like to have a go at something like that. Lisa.
