You probably have lots of photos that never make it to print. So why not make a 'Audio Visual' with or without music, of your best images?
AP and other mags will show you how to do it. But it really is very simple. PicturesToExe costs about £13. ProShow Gold costs more but does the same thing. Proshow Pro is very expensive and does not offer more than ProShow Gold.

Great idea and if you have Microsoft Office or Open Office on your computer you can use PowerPoint or Impress to do just about everything you could want to do with a series of images - including adding a soundtrack and a thousand and one transitions between slides,

The main difference between using the likes of Pictures to Exe (PTE) / ProShow and Powerpoint / Impress is that the later require either Powerpoint or Impress to run. PTE and Proshow produce executables that run on any Windoes based PC. You can also output to a huge variety of formats - including You Tube.
Either way, it can be a great way of displaying your images. However the same rule apply to these modern slideshows - as they did to 'holiday 35 mm slideshows of yesteryear.
Keep it short, I find 4 to 5 mins, is enough. Any more and folk tend to get bored.

In December 2007 my wife and I went on the 'Coastal Voyage' from Bergen, Norway, to the North Cape and back again. We were on board the MS Trollfjord, part of the Hurtigruten fleet. Once you go above the Arctic circle ii is dark all day, although if there are no clouds in the sky you can get an eerie blueness that is difficult to describe (but can be seen in the AV).
The Northern Lights were on display but I found it really hard to take decent photos - the ship is moving, rocking and the wind sharp - not to mention the cold. So I only have two decent images of the 'Lights'.
We were caught in a warm storm near the North Cape and had to anchor in a fjord and wait it out. Sadly the warm rain washed away most of the snow and ice and instead of the expected -15C it was 5C.
This one was done in Pictures to Exe and is 18MB, and is the best AV I have done to date.
