A picture of the camera, yes? Very nice, but like the others say.

I thought it was tribute to Zeiss even thought this camera has nothing to do with Kyocera. Sorry for posting ths image.

Another Cosina product - that's Voigtlander, Epson and ZI.

Still: in the past they have made Canon T-60, Nikon FM-10, Olympus OM-2000, Ricoh KR-5-Super-2, Yashica FX? and Miranda amongst others.

I think they do a tremendous job reviving the rangefinder camera and I'm a great supporter. When will they produce a rf version carrying the L name I wonder?

No need for any apology. This camera probably came about because Zeiss had lost much of their presence in the stills photography world recently - ie, the retirement, wonded, of Kyocera and Hasselblad's effective dumping of their classic 6x6 line for the new H series which have, I believe, lenses by Fuji. So we get the Zeiss M line and the Nikon mount ZF lenses, and in the pipeline some classicly styled lenses for Hasselblad's 500 series cameras.

Unfortunately in there are no camera stores in Western Canada that carries the Zeiss Ikon Rangefinder 35, all I've seen so far are the ones from Voigtlander.

The Zeiss Ikon Rangefinder is not cheap it is the same price as a used Leica M-2 or M-3 at $1,200 Canadian Dollars at estimate.

Why would you expect something from Zeiss to be cheap? If you want 'cheap', buy the Voigtlander.

The camera is not from Zeiss, it's made by Cosina the same company that makes the Voiglander. $1,200 is a lot for just the body and no lens...the kit alone is the as much as an used Leica M-6 body.

I didn't expect it to be cheap, but in my opinion I'd rather go for a M-3, which in my opinion is still a nicer camera to carry around.

That's true, but Zeiss have a major input. The build quality of the ZI camera (and its lenses) is several notches above the Voigtlander bodies. Still below that of Leica, but you'd expect that with the price difference.

While the body alone costs in the same region as a used M6, it does have aperture priority AE in addition to manual exposure. That's not important to me, but would be a draw to those who may hanker after the M7 but can't justify the cost - even s/h it can be £1300-1400.

Yes, but it's made to Zeiss specs,

That is true David, the camera is made to Zeiss specs. but I won't shell out that kind of cash on a new film camera, with the same amount as a M6 with lens...my choice is most definitely Leica M-6 used.

Cheers,
Simon

Looks like a nice little camera, though I think I'll stick to my old folding 120 versions
