Hello,

I'm looking for a versatile camera for travel photography (sunsets, nature) but also some portraits.

I hesitate between the following cameras if possible with a budget of less than $ 540:

1) RX 100 and RX 100 Sony II (quite expensive)
2) Ricoh GR (quite expensive)
3) Canon sx280HS
4) Canon S120
5) Panasonic LF1

What is the best value for money?

Thank you in advance!

Hi

The new canon sx700 is a nice camera with good images with a 30 x zoom. I checked it out the other day and it easily beats the old model Cann sx280.

Cheers

Steve.

Hi,

I didn't find any review about this camera. Do you think it is better than the others on quality/price ?

Cheers

i thought about it but a DSLR will be quite big for me.
I would like to take pictures on several situations (boat, skis...) a compact is a better choice i think.

Which models you advise me?

cheers

Hi,

Here is a link to the latest review.

I wouldn't say its better than the RX100 as that's about 2x the price. In its price range the sx700 is very good. I compared it with some superzooms and I was impressed. All the best
Cheers
Steve.

1) and 2) above are fixed focal length and despite being superb cameras, are probably a bit too restricting for you. As long as you I cannot comment on the others because I know nothing about them.

EDIT
Sorry, mis-read your number 1), so please disregard my post. I thought you were referring to the Fuji X100. Far too many X's in camera names these days!

the type of camera will depend on the iq that you want

Using it on boats and skis may indicate a more action-cam type with greater emphasis on video perhaps? Or one of those rugged waterproof jobs that you'll find in a group test or similar on this website.
