As the weather's turned to rain again, I decided to sort out my camera bag. I've taken out a lot of stuff as it was getting so heavy. I've been employing the theory of " Better To Have It And Not Want It, Than Want It and Not Have It" However, I've needed "Muscles Like Garth" to carry it. What do you think?

Just weighed mine, and even after sorting it out its 9kg. That includes the tripod that attaches to the bag/backpack.

Usualy I wear a photographers Gilet which will have another 3 lenses in it, just weighed it and its another 1.3kg add on 2.75kg for tripod which I normally carry on a sling across my back im up to 9.9kg thats why i'm puffing going up hill. But that would only be when I'm going a long way off the beaten track.

Lumped my bag along the canal yesterday, and I was glad I took the equipment I had. My D600 and a Nikon wide angle lens was used for the scenic shot of the canal, and my D7000 was loaded up with my Nikon micro lens for the insect shots. I've decided to do this so I don't have to change lenses' on the D600.

D800 4 lenses spare battery filters cloths cleaners and of course the tripod which goes everywhere ,,,,,,,sheesh I'm getting tired just typing it, but as things stand I wouldn't go out on a photo shoot without it all. Oh and sometimes I carry a Samsung P & S in my pocket in case I'm too slow unloading the other gear! The future I do believe is a full frame pocket sized camera with a 18 - 300 mm lens

Hi Alf, when did you get your D800, I thought you used a D700, agree about the point & shoot I carry a Lumix just in case, use it a lot for my candid shots of Charlie & Maxi. Well it seems the consensus of opinion is to take your gear with you, another plus in doing this is it will keep you fit carrying all that weight about.

i think they have been trying for a long time now to get a smaller DSLR type camera ie the mirrorless. the problem is the DSLR is a good camera and hard to beat
