Sony DSC-RX100 buying advice

I already have a Sony Nex7 camera and am interested in buying the new Sony DSC-RX100 camera.
Do you think that I would be duplicating an already good camera or would this be a sensible purchase?

Hi and welcome.

The Sony Nex7 has a 23.5 x 15.6mm (APS-C size) sensor. The Sony DSC-RX100 has a 1.0" type (13.2 x 8.8mm) sensor so would be a step down in image quality...

Were you thinking the slightly smaller size of the RX100 would suit you better? If you wanted something that fits in a shirt pocket, that you could carry anywhere for daylight shooting only (unless using a pocket tripod), then there are plenty of small Sony's to choose from.
