Hi,
I am looking to buy a compact camera mainly for family shots(holiday etc).
I have been trawling through various stores reviews etc and still cant decide..

The 4 in question are..
Panasonic DMC GF3
Nikon J1
Olympus PEN-PM1
Sony NEX 5N.

Leaning towards the Panasonic GF3 but not quite sure...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Hi and welcome.

They are of course all very capable cameras and may well come down to feel and menus etc.

From what I have read, the Sony NEX 5N has the better image quality out of them all.

Here's a couple of conclusions from two good sites Clicky 1 (http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/sony_nex_5n_review/conclusion/)---- Clicky 2 (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonynex5n/15)

And don't forget. Post processing is an important part of photography and should be used to sharpen and enhance pictures taken with your camera. If you don't have an imaging editor, then use the one in my signature below. There are 32 video tutorials to get you started. The most useful is the Adjusting levels (http://ictpublish.com/pixlr/Videoes/06_Levels/06_Levels.html) and for even more adjustment. The Curves tool (http://ictpublish.com/pixlr/Videoes/07_Curves/07_Curves.html) is a must (it's my favourite all-in-one adjuster). My Resize-Crop-Sharpen tutorial below, will get your pics ready for the internet or whatever

Cheers!

hi your title says compact but the cameras you list are csc type with inter changeable lenses, is this what you want plus you havent given a budget.
