View Full Version : Compact for Travelling

Looking to get myself a new compact for some traveling, I currently use a Nikon D60 however I'm planning to get myself a D5100 in a couple of months. Although from previous trips these have been to large to carry around certain places (water parks, theme parks, etc) so looking for a compact to also carry for when the DSLR wont be getting used.

Main feature required would be good quality images both indoor and outdoor - not too bothered about video feature.
Budget would be around 150 but would consider a little more for the right camera.

Any recommended models?

Thanks in advance.

One to consider also if you want a pocket compact (that has manual control and plenty of zoom) is last years Panasonic TZ20, now reduced to half price (a real bargain at 159!) Click for review (http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/panasonic_lumix_dmc_tz20_review/conclusion/)

I have bought from these people in the past with no problems and they offer 30 day cooling off period with no quibble Clicky (http://www.simplyelectronics.net/mainproduct.php?pid=16447&setcurrency=gbp)

I shoot with the Panasonic TZ7 Click for zoom images (http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?71760-TZ7-zoom-range-%287-images%29&highlight=zoom). I also now shoot with the TZ10 that has manual control,(thanks to my brother who purchased the TZ30 last week). TZ stands for Travel Zoom.
