Hi there everyone, I am new here, but really need some pro advice!!

I need a good compact for video more than photos, I owned a HX5V which was super for videos, but you can't get them any more sadly. So was wondering if anyone knows or uses something with superb video.

Any help appreciated, I am a new user here, but will offer as much advice as possible in the future!!

Thanks for your reply, while I love the HX5V - I was thinking there may be something similar or better in another model?

Thanks for your reply, while I love the HX5V - I was thinking there may be something similar or better in another model?Ah! The problem is the HX5 has that 10MP sensor which means cleaner images. Most of the new ones increase the population of the sensor to 14 or 16 MP which is just not needed IMHO. However, look at this group test and notice how the HSX5 comes top in Best of Bunch. Doesn't quite get gold, but anyway, have a read and see what you think about the other models in the test Clicky (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q210grouptravelzoom/24)

It was interesting to note on another site the HX5 got 9/10 Clicky (http://www.trustedreviews.com/Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-HX5_Digital-Camera_review) whereas the HX9 only got 8/10 Clicky (http://www.trustedreviews.com/Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-HX9V-review_Digital-Camera_review) Latest, don't mean greatest lol :D

Cheers!

Thanks for that, I have literally just taken delivery of a HX5 now, I bought one as it was released back in 2010, but this new one is terrible compared. Side by side video quality from my old HX was much much better. For some reason the image noise is higher and the image is no where near as sharp. And I am sure it is nota faulty unit. Looks like I will have to go for the HX9 now which is the only one readily available, but I am not fond of the scene mode in video recording.

Does anyone else have any recomendations?

Thanks!!

I shoot with a Panasonic TZ7.

If it broke. I would probably buy the Sony HX9 :-D

After looking at what could be 100's of sample videos, the HX9V seems to be the only one which is really up to the job. Off to Jessops in the morning so I can grab one (again) lol.

Thanks for the advice.
