Hiya,

I wanted to ask a couple of questions on canon dslr's please;

1) Which is best, the canon 550d or the 600d?? and why?
I am buying the body only and they both fit in my budget, so which would you get and why??

2) And how much better are the above cameras compared to the canon 1000d?? and again why?? is it a vast improvement???? will i see much difference??

Thank you

The 550d and 600d both share the the same sensor. The differenes are a swivel screen a wireless flash function. Yes its an improvement on the 1000d

I took the leap from the 1000D to the 600D. Absolutely love it, I'm never without it. The extra 8MP is sweet. Just try to keep the ISO down below 6400 as digital noise is visible in low light photography.

The 600d is everything the 550d is but with a swivel screen and wireless flash, the 1000d has been updated by the 1100d which is an alright camera :)

if you dont need the swivel screen or wireless flash, save you rmoney and get the 550, you could even look at the 500d for that matter. Very little changes in camera revisions, although things like high ISO can occasionally receive a drastic boost. A friend of mine still shoots with his aging 350D as it does everything he needs, aside from its terrible high ISO performance (which he doesnt need anyway) the shots it produces are fantastic.

I recently added a 600 to my armoury to replace a 1000D, and have also used a 550D. Both the 550 and 600 are a lot better in just about every way than the 1000D. If you're sure you won't need the swivelling LCD and wireless flash, and you can afford the extra, go for the 600D; it's a great camera. If not, the 550D is pretty good, and just as capable in terms of image quality. Personally, I think the 18MP sensor is a much better bet than the 15MP one in the 500D; not only is the resolution greater, but so is the noise.
